Golf Equipment
If you intend to use your equipment frequently, buying golf gear may be a good option.
Selecting the right set of irons can be one of the most daunting tasks of a golfer’s equipment-buying life. Not only are they the bread and butter of your golf game, your irons say something about your ability level, as well as your taste.
The two most popular designs in irons today are players clubs and game-improvement models. Players clubs can range from steel-shafted muscleback blades to minimally offset, small-cavity models. Game-improvement models tend to feature more offset, bigger cavities, lightweight graphite shafts and wider soles, making them generally easier to hit.
When it comes to the insides of a club, the most significant difference between players and game-improvement irons is the centre of gravity (CG) location. The CG can have a huge effect on shot trajectory, particularly with the longer irons. For this reason, just about every company designs their game-improvement models with an extremely low CG. This helps get the ball in the air quickly and easily. By contrast, most players irons feature a mid or high CG location to make it easier to vary shot shape and trajectory.
