Kiteboarding Equipment
If you intend to use your equipment frequently, buying good kiteboarding gear may be a good option.
First and foremost, you’ll need a kite, a board, a harness, a control bar with lines and a wet suit. A helmet is only necessary if you use a board leash as the leash can catapult your board back to you, but a helmet can't do any harm if you choose to wear one anyway.
Buying kites is a personal choice. There are many different types of kites available that differ in power, de-power, turning speed jumping ability and re-launchability. High aspect kites usually jump high and have a huge de-power range, but re-launches are more difficult and turn slower than medium aspect kites. Medium aspect kites normally have less de-power and height in jumps, but they re-launch very easily and usually turn faster, which makes them an excellent choice for wave riders.
We recommend buying a kite that’s not too small and not too big when starting out. Bigger kites are difficult to re-launch and smaller kites are too fast and need a lot of wind to get going. A 12 square metre kite is not only the most used kite globally, but also a good bet as you can use it in most conditions and won’t outgrow it.
