Skiing Equipment
If you intend to use your equipment frequently, buying good snow gear may be a good option.
From boots to backpacks, we’re here to help you find the right stuff. If you're looking for an entirely new setup, it’s worth noting that ski shops will often give a break to customers who buy whole packages, particularly on beginner and intermediate gear.
First and foremost, find a shop that listens to you and be honest, so that you buy a ski that suits your style, ability, and weight. In the past, retailers have bundled skis with bindings, but recently the manufacturers themselves have been designing bindings to go with specific skis and selling them as a package. Ensure the bindings are checked before you leave the shop. The DIN release settings should be adjusted to suit your size, weight and ability.
If in doubt of ski length, go short. If you go too short, the only loss will be slight instability at higher speed and less flotation off piste. You will, however, be able to bend the ski with ease, gaining excellent snow contact from tip to tail and consequently improved edge grip.
And remember: buying a ski way above your ability will not only hinder your performance, it will also hurt your pocket.
