Located in the Atlantic Ocean , Barbados is a moderately flat island surrounded by beautiful coral reefs. Rising only slightly in the central highland region, the highest point of Barbados is Mount Hillaby , which stands at 336m. Unspoiled beaches and tranquil blue waters flourish on the western coast, while craggy sea cliffs and rock-strewn outcrops line the choppy eastern coast. Underground streams, springs and limestone caverns are common, as are sugar cane fields, pasture and scrubland. Small areas of native woodland remain in gullies and cliffs too steep for cultivation.
