Adventure Holidays In Belgium |
With three main physical regions consisting of coastal plain, lush valleys, and dense woody outcrops, Belgium is a country more environmentally varied than many people first think. While much of Belgium is by and large flat, the terrain becomes increasingly hilly and forested in the southeast Ardennes region, where shady caverns huddle in deep wooded valleys and atop high elevations. This is where Belgium 's highest point nestles, the Signal de Botrange at only 694 metres. The mountainous country in the Ardennes region features forests, lakes and caves, as well as hurrying rivers and high hills.
ADVENTURE SPORTS IN BELGIUM
With its beautiful hilly countryside and forests, lakes and caves, Belgium offers up opportunities for coastal and forest walks as well as more adventurous sports. Caving and climbing are possible in the Ardennes region, as are water sports including canoeing and kayaking, which are also available on the coast. Networks of cycling paths snake through the disused railway lines and old canal towpaths of the Ardennes region, while in Flanders , the more northerly and flatter part of the country, there are many kilometres of signposted cycling routes.
