The Rock of Gibraltar sits at the southernmost tip of Europe with a land frontier to Spain on its northern front. It rests at the crossroads of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea . Intrinsically linked with the sea, Gibraltar is one of the busiest Ports of Call in the Mediterranean . Almost totally surrounded by sea, Gibraltar has five beaches - Catalan Bay , Cam p Bay , Eastern Beach , Sandy Bay and Little Bay. The town and harbours of Gibraltar lie along the Rock's less steep west side, facing the Bay of Gibraltar .

Water sports play a large part in Gibraltarian life, centring around its three marinas: Sheppard’s Marina , Marina Bay and Queensway Quay Marina. Gibraltar offers a spectacular underwater world with more than thirty wrecks, reefs and pinnacles. There are three established diving schools that offer diving opportunities both for the experienced diver and the first-time novice. Caving enthusiasts will be glad to know that there are over 150 caves inside Gibraltar ’s Rock in which numerous fossil remains have been found. The cave’s natural auditorium is used for concerts and theatre performances.

Best spots for water sports
As well as being popular in Gibraltar , Tarifa – viewed as possibly the capital in Europe of windsurfing - is just 40 minutes away. Lying at the bottom of the South Mole, the wreck of the SS Roslyn is a popular scenic wreck dive.
Best spots for caving
The most popular cave is St. Michael’ Cave which is a dramatic natural grotto rich with stalagmites and stalactites.
