With a leg on each side of the equator, Kenya is splashed by the Indian Ocean and shares the enormous waters of Lake Victoria with its western and southern neighbours. Forming the spine of the country is the Rift Valley and Central Highlands area, while the moist coastal belt includes the Tana River estuary and a succession of prime beaches. Western Kenya claims the abundant borders of Lake Victoria and, principal wildlife parks abound in the southern part of the country. The vast, parched northern region is where Kenya is at its most untamed and untouched, while the endless plains of the south are scattered with distinctive vegetation. .

Resplendent at 5,199m, it is taller than Blanc, The Matterhorn, The Rockies, The Sierras, and most of the peaks of the Himalayas and Caucasus . Composed of a huge volcanic base where the outer mantle and crater have eroded away, Mount Kenya has seven primary peaks, and a series of subsidiary cones scattered about its crest.
