Morocco is a land of wide-ranging contrasts, including coastline, forests, rivers, mountains and desert. The southern coast extends to the brink of the Western Sahara , while to the north are the foothills of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains . Between the mountains and Morocco 's Atlantic coast are lush, dew covered highlands and plains. At the edge of the Anti Atlas, deep gorges and rushing rivers gradually fade into the infinite sand and stony wilderness of the great Sahara .
ADVENTURE SPORTS IN MOROCCO
Morocco offers exceptional opportunities for year-round hiking and trekking, but the best time is from April to October. The canyons and gorges are best undertaken from June to October because in summer, storms can make the gorges impenetrable. If it’s water sports you’re after, sandy beaches along the Mediterranean coast offer excellent diving prospects, while the rivers in the High and Middle Atlas ranges offer year-round white water rafting. Last but not least, skiing is promising for several months each year.

One of the most popular treks in the High Atlas is the 4167m ascent of Jebel Toubkal , North Africa ’s highest peak.

Ifrane in the Middle Atlas and Oukaiden in the High Atlas both offer great skiing experiences, while other popular ski resorts include Mischliffen and Djebel Bou Volane in the Middle Atlas, and Mount Tidiquin in the Ketama district.
Best spots for rafting & canoeing
The Oum-er-Rbia in the High Atlas mountains is a must for white water rafting
