Adventure Holidays In Russia |
The world’s largest country, Russia stretches across Europe and Asia and covers almost one-eighth of the world’s land area. European Russia is a large plain made up of grasslands used for agriculture, crossed by rivers and home to the Ural Mountains that run from north to south, separating European and Asian Russia. To the east of the Urals lies low and swampy Siberia , rising to rolling hills farther east and to mountains and volcanoes near the Pacific coast. Along the southern border of Russia , between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea , are the Caucasus Mountains . Lake Baikal in Siberia is the world’s deepest lake, containing 20 per cent of all the fresh water in the world. Northern Russia is an arctic region of tundra and permafrost, while south of the tundra is woody and forested.
