Mountain Biking
Beginner
Pushing yourself to your limits by riding a mountain bike through dirt roads, forests, deserts, hills, and mountains is a great experience. If you're interested in finding out more about mountain biking but don't know where to start, the best way to begin is to enrol on a short course of group or private lessons to see if mountain biking is for you. Many operators offer ‘primer courses’ that let you get acquainted with mountain biking. If you enjoy your single-visit we strongly recommend that you enrol on a multiple-visit course.
Intermediate
If you already know the basics of mountain biking, there are many ways you can improve your bike handling skills. Most intermediate lessons will focus on examining and developing mountain biking technique and safety. They will also focus on bike choice and preparation, to reading a map, weather forecasting and mountain rescue. There is usually the opportunity to take lessons privately as well as part of a group, giving you the opportunity to hone specific skills such as developing a training programme.
Advanced
If you’re an ambitious intermediate or advanced mountain biker striving to break through to the next level, honing your skills with a qualified instructor means you’ll be able to learn more advanced techniques that will enrich your mountain biking experience. Many advanced mountain biking lessons encourage you to practice your bike handling skills and provide information on how to deal with extreme terrain and advice on the perfect set-up for your style of riding. If you enjoy mountain biking so much that you’re considering becoming a mountain bike instructor, we recommend that you take an Instructor Training Course to gain teaching experience as well as technical improvements.
