Sailing
Beginner
Sailing is an experience like no other when the wind is strong so that you can feel the excitement. If you're interested in finding out more about sailing but don't know where to start, the best way to begin is to enrol on a short course of group or private lessons to see if sailing is for you. Many operators offer ‘primer courses’ that let you get acquainted with sailing. If you enjoy your single-visit we strongly recommend that you enrol on a multiple-visit course.
Intermediate
If you already have sailing experience, there are many ways you can become more competent and confident in your abilities. Most intermediate lessons will focus on examining and developing sailing technique and safety. They will also focus on teaching you to feel comfortable on the helm in all conditions up to 18mph in wind strength. There is usually the opportunity to take lessons privately as well as part of a group, giving you the opportunity to hone specific skills such as learning basic sailboat racing.
Advanced
If you’re an ambitious intermediate or advanced sailor striving to break through to the next level, honing your skills with a qualified instructor means you’ll be able to learn more advanced techniques that will enrich your sailing experience. Many advanced sailing lessons encourage you to practice your boat handling skills and provide an introduction to spinnaker handling as well as navigation. If you enjoy sailing so much that you’re considering becoming a sailing instructor, we recommend that you take an Instructor Training Course to gain teaching experience as well as technical improvements.
